U-Roy the Jamaican reggae legendary will return after 10 years absence with a brand new album: PRAY FI DI PEOPLE WILL RELEASE on October 9th 2012!

The Jamaican reggae living legend is back in the worldwide stage with a brand new album: PRAY FI DI PEOPL will release in October 9th 2012 after 10 years of absence in the studios! A musical and cultural event which is not to be missed! This album confirms again the Jamaican toaster’s talent with a roots sound which followed his time and which is claiming peace respect and music’s universality.

We have to go back in the 60? and the soud systems’ success in Jamaica to observe the first deejays’ introduction including Ewart Bekford alias U-Roy. Quickly his way of singing became a way to express yourself. Although his first tracks were not a big success he achieved the Jamaican charts with his single “Wake the Town”. Daddy U-Roy clearly invented a new style and this particularly way he has to comment and talk on instrumental versions will become his signature. In addition to his developed skill with words U-Roy distinguish himself with an unique tone of voice. From de high to the law sounds U-Roy don’t drop the melody and his heavy flow. With the getting of dub his talent exploded and Daddy U-Roy became the “Godfather” creating an exceptional period of productivity and creation in the Jamaican island in turmoil in that time.
The biggest will fight to compose with him, Mad Professor, Lee Perry, Joe Gibbs, King Tubby or Duke Reid… U-Roy produced some musical bombs for them which flowed around the globe and the worldwide sound systems.

Today Daddy U-Roy is back with PRAY FI DI PEOPLE which tracks a lifetime career and communicate modern visions and ideas of a man who defends diversity pluralism and sharing since more of 50 years.
The album is totally part of this 21th century through contemporary texts modern melodies and featuring with the greatest reggae singers of this 10 last years. That includes Harrison Stafford from the Californian group Groundation, Horace Andy, Chezidek, Marcia Griffiths or Tiken Jah Fakoly (Côte d’Ivoire) and Balik from Danakil (France).

Tiken Jah Fakoly and Danakil sing in a very contemporary track named “The Hard Way” reflecting the modern world mix, modern difficulties of young generations who have to fight to survive and to follow the good way. It proves too the various influences that reggae music could borrow during his existence. From Jamaica to Africa and Europe crossing generations this music continues to expand itself sharing a message of peace unity and love. The three singers met themselves in studios  to represent a new reggae that everyone can make it their own with an own style but with a same message.

U-Roy puts the emphasis on the new generation with a bright future and full of creativity! His lasting style is perfectly adapted to translate an universal movement, a movement which will take again colors and humanity with PRAY FI DI PEOPLE!

U’Roy sounds just as relaxed and confident as he ever did, his toats imparting wisdom and urging humanity to do positive deeds.
